The Plot Thickens – Author Event with Crime Writer Terry Green
Tavistock author Terry Green, best known as the voice of “Cashier Number Three, please”, will be in Gallery 26 at the town’s The Bedford Hotel from 7pm on Thursday 13th November 2025 to discuss writing, plotting and his new “life of crime”.
Join Terry, an amusing and entertaining raconteur, to hear about the twists and turns of his life and career that ultimately led to him writing his first crime thriller, “Redline”, a fast and furious read set in the glamorous world of sports cars. Early 5* reviews for the newly-published book praise it as a “race from start to finish” and promise “it will keep you hooked.”
Terry will pepper his talk with anecdotes, disclose what finally prompted him to put pen to paper, discuss his creative process and reveal his progress on his second crime thriller, Dangerous Art. The evening will be interspersed with extracts from Redline, read by Nigel Howells from the South West’s Moonstone Theatre Company. Book Stop, Tavistock’s independent book shop, will be in attendance so that guests can buy copies of Redline for Terry to sign.
Tickets for the event are £8. The event is kindly hosted and supported by The Bedford Hotel, Tavistock and proceeds will go to the town Mayor’s charity, the Tavistock library – a crucial community hub. The Mayor of Tavistock, Cllr Steve Hipsey said: “An evening with Terry Green at The Bedford will be a highlight for Tavistock; Redline is a sharp crime thriller of fast cars and higher stakes. The Bedford offers a fine setting, comfort, and warm hospitality; we are very grateful to Mike and his team for hosting the event. I am delighted to welcome Terry’s kind contribution to our charity effort in support of Tavistock Library, my Mayor’s charity.”
Mike Coombes, Sales and Marketing Manager for The Bedford Hotel said: “We are delighted and honoured to have the opportunity to welcome Terry for what is sure to be an excellent evening. Terry’s first novel is a great read from start to finish, and it will be fascinating to hear more about Terry’s inspiration for this novel and his next one!”
