Dog Lying on The Floor
Dogs enjoy a break in Devon too, and you'll find we are very dog-friendly here at The Bedford Hotel.

A Dog Friendly Hotel

Dog under blanket

We are able to welcome your dog in many of our bedrooms, and we would ask that you let us know you are bringing your four-legged friend so that we can allocate a dog-friendly room for you. In the interests of our guests with allergies, some rooms are specifically designated as dog-free.

Your dog is also welcome in our bar and lounge, though not in our restaurant. For resident guests, we can always lay a table for your meals in the bar or lounge on request.

Dogs are charged at £15 per night, and we do ask that you bring your own dog food and bedding. Please let us know you’ll be bringing your dog when you book.

Dog Walk

There will be a doggy goody-bag for them on arrival, and it goes without saying that we have some fabulous walks for you to enjoy with your dog. We particularly recommend a stroll along the canal which runs through The Meadows close to the hotel, and for a longer leg-stretch there is Drake’s Trail, 21 mile foot and cycle path which links Tavistock with Yelverton and onwards to Plymouth. The trail can be enjoyed in any number of sections long and short, but we especially like the 6 mile section from Tavistock to Yelverton (including a walk through the spooky and impressive Grenofen Tunnel), and the short walk from one end of Tavistock to the other which gives brilliant views from the disused viaduct. Ask us the way!

The Tamar Trails Centre is also worth a visit with your dog. And don’t forget you have the whole of Dartmoor National Park to explore too, with wild open spaces to enjoy, and craggy tors to climb.
